JioCinema, the streaming platform of Viacom18, has recently entered into a multi-year agreement with NBCUniversal (NBCU) to bring a wide range of films and TV series from NBCU to India. This announcement follows JioCinema’s previous declaration that it would be the new home for HBO and Warner Bros content in the country, starting in May.

Under this agreement, viewers in India will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of titles from NBCU’s acclaimed content portfolio. This portfolio encompasses renowned production entities and brands such as Universal Television, Universal International Studios, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, and Focus Features.

The programming from NBCU will be available through a Peacock branded hub on JioCinema’s newly introduced ‘JioCinema Premium’ SVOD (subscription video on demand) tier, beginning in June.

Indian subscribers will gain access to Peacock Originals, which include exciting productions like “Bel-Air,” a dramatic reimagining of the popular ’90s comedy series starring Will Smith, and “The Calling,” an investigative drama series created by Emmy winner David E. Kelley. The latter is directed and executive produced by Oscar winner Barry Levinson, and features the musical composition of Oscar winner Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro.

Furthermore, the service will offer a collection of blockbuster movies, including the beloved “Despicable Me/Minions” and “Fast” franchises, including the recently released “Fast X.” Other upcoming additions to the service include “The Super Mario Bros Movie,” featuring the voice of Chris Pratt, and the highly anticipated IMAX-shot epic thriller “Oppenheimer,” directed by Christopher Nolan.

Fans of reality television will be able to stream popular unscripted series such as “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Vanderpump Rules” from NBCU. Additionally, the DreamWorks Animation slate will include films like the Oscar-nominated “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and the sci-fi horror movie “M3GAN” from James Wan and Blumhouse.

This agreement also grants access to critically acclaimed and fan-favorite series from NBCU’s extensive library. Shows like “Downton Abbey,” “Suits,” “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “The Mindy Project” will be available to Indian viewers as part of this deal.
