Daradia Pain Clinic hosted its annual International Conference on Recent Advances in Pain (ICRA-PAIN) in September in conjunction with the Bangladesh Society for Anesthesia at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka. The event was virtually inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, and widely attended by pain physicians from around the world.

Prime Minister Hasina praised the anesthesiologists in attendance for their significant contributions during the COVID-19 era and predicted future contributions to the science of pain relief from anesthesiologists. Other dignitaries present echoed the Prime Minister’s thanks to the doctors and physicians that have helped develop medical care in Bangladesh.

“Daradia expects that pain management specialty will grow in Bangladesh and common people will be very much benefitted. And that is the most important reason for the organization of this conference,” said Dr. Gautam Das, director of Daradia. Dr. Kawsar Sardar, Secretary General of BSACCPP said “ICRA-PAIN is the brainchild of Dr. Das and this it is organized first time outside India.”

The doctors in attendance discussed cutting-edge, minimally invasive treatments for different painful illnesses, such as persistent knee pain, back and neck pain, headache, shoulder pain, cancer pain, and arthritis pain.

Participants in attendance discussed and learned about the recent developments in pain medicine, a new branch of modern allopathic medicine. Two pre-conference, live workshops were organized; one at Birdem Hospital featured cutting-edge new techniques from the operating room including cooled radiofrequency for chronic knee and back pain, and another pre-conference workshop featured a hands-on demonstration of musculoskeletal ultrasonography from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital. A post-conference cadaveric workshop was held at Dhaka Medical College for interventional pain procedures.

Dr. Gautam Das and his team of specialists have organized the International Conference on Recent Advances in Pain (ICRA-PAIN) annually since 2015 to spread awareness of the latest advancements in pain medicine. Each year, the conference features hands-on workshops where doctors from all over the world participate in order to discuss and learn the latest developments in pain medicine.
